International Trademark Association: 125 Years of Excellence
The International Trademark Association ("INTA") promotes the legal rights of trademark owners, with a membership consisting of 6,500 of the most recognizable brands in the world and law firms that support them. To commemorate the 125th anniversary of its founding, INTA commissioned LoScalzo Media Design LLC to produce a documentary video and DVD, chronicling the history of international trademark law and INTA's influence on it. LoScalzo conducted and recorded interviews with 35 trademark law practitioners whose extemporaneous remarks form the basis of the video program. To achieve visual variety among the interviewees, LoScalzo devised a custom system to project abstract, large-format transparencies as backdrops, quickly changeable as need be for each interviewee (see freeze-frames, below). LoScalzo was also responsible for creating DVD navigation menus selectable in six languages – English, German, Spanish, French, Chinese and Japanese – which activate video subtitling in each of those languages. The video program is narrated by Will Lyman (PBS Nova, Frontline). It premiered for an audience of 1,700 trademark lawyers during the opening ceremonies of INTA's Annual Meeting in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and the DVD was distributed to 7,000 government officials and Association members worldwide. The video was awarded a silver TELLY Award, the highest honor in the competition and one of the most sought-after awards in the TV, commercial and video industry.
